What we do

Sound and AV for Perth schools and events.

Urban Echo provides professional sound and AV services across metropolitan Perth. The bulk of our work is in schools, assemblies, graduations, performing arts productions, formals and award ceremonies, where reliability and working well with students and staff really matters.

Outside of schools, we operate corporate events, private functions, community events, weddings and live productions. If it needs sound, lighting, a screen or someone to make it run smoothly, that's us.

Most work happens in the evenings and on weekends during school term, with a good amount of activity through holidays too. Jobs range from a two-hour assembly in a school hall to full multi-day productions in proper theatres.

He runs a tight, reliable operation and hires people he'd actually want to work alongside, people who are switched on, easy to communicate with and take the work seriously without taking themselves too seriously.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Got a question before you apply? Here are the most common ones.

Do I need a formal education? +

If you do, great! But we also know hands-on experience in our industry is the most valuable. Regardless of your formal qualifications, make sure to apply, we offer pathways that include training your way up to being an operator. If you're inexperienced but teachable, we want you! We also offer work for setup teams, which means if you're able to lift and move chairs, you're already a great fit to apply.

How many hours a week is it? +

It varies. Most crew work a handful of evenings and weekend jobs per week during busy periods (school term, event season). There's no minimum hours commitment, you pick up the jobs that suit you.

Do I need a Working With Children Check? +

For any school work, yes, a current WWC Check is required. If you don't have one, we can work with you on getting it sorted. It's straightforward and relatively quick to obtain in WA.

What does a typical job look like? +

Usually a school assembly, concert, production or formal. You'd arrive to help with bump-in, operate your role during the event, then help with pack-down. Jobs run anywhere from two hours to a full day for bigger productions.

How do I find out about available jobs? +

Once you're on the crew, Mitchel sends out job offers directly, usually via text or our scheduling system. You reply to confirm availability and that's it. Simple.

What happens after I apply? +

Mitchel reviews applications personally and gets in touch within a few days. If it looks like a good fit, you'll have a quick chat, no formal interview, just a conversation, and go from there.
